Nature Photographer Nick Steinberg Captures Magical Images as Waves of Fog Roll Over San Francisco Bay

The landscapes surrounding San Francisco Bay are so beautiful that it’s sometimes difficult to make a really bad photograph there. But the work of local resident Nick Steinberg is truly captivating—especially his images of fog rolling over the region like giant waves.

Steinberg’s fascination with photography began almost a decade ago during a journey to Mexico’s Yucatan Peninsula. He says he was struck by the amazing light and textures of the Mayan ruins and pyramids, but was without a camera to record the moments.

After returning home, Steinberg swore he’d never be without a camera again. Living in the SF Bay area, inspiration was not difficult to find. He describes his home as “A photographer’s paradise,” with everything from majestic redwood forests and the breezy sea, to magical mountains, iconic city skylines, and stunning desserts.

Stenberg’s beautiful work has been widely published and featured in print and on television everywhere from National Geographic and the U.S. Department of the Interior to ABC7 News.

Saying he “goes above and beyond to get the shot and be unique,” Steinberg can usually be found chasing the great light and scenery of Northern California at all hours of the day and night.
