Sony's speed demon is back for round two and this time it's added some significant professional features. Sony just unveiled the Sony A9 II, which is the follow-up to the A9 from 2017, and is designed to capture fast action sports thanks to its ability to shoot nearly silent 20 frames per second (fps) bursts with a vibration-free and blackout-free electronic shutter.

The 24.3-megapixel Sony Alpha A7 II mirrorless, full-frame camera, which was announced in Japan nearly a week ago, made its official debut in the U.S. this morning. The Sony A7 II uses the same, 35mm-sized, 24.3-megapixel CMOS sensor as the previous model but the new camera adds 5-axis image stabilization, making it the first full frame camera with this feature.

A small earthquake didn’t stop Sony from unveiling two new wide-angle zooms in their ever-expanding line of full-frame E-mount lenses at a press event today in beautiful Santa Barbara, California. Shutterbug was on hand to test out the new Sony glass, which includes a fast FE 16-35mm f/2.8 GM wide-angle zoom and an FE 12-24mm f/4 G ultra-wide zoom.

Sony introduced a fast and compact new mirrorless camera this morning: the 24.2-megapixel Sony A6300. The Sony A6300, which boasts what the company claims is the “world’s fastest autofocus,” is the follow-up to the Sony A6000 from 2014.

This morning Sony introduced a new flagship mirrorless camera, the a6500, which claims to have the world’s fastest AF speed and the highest number of AF points with in-camera 5-axis image stabilization. The camera features Sony’s acclaimed 4D Focus system, which can acquire focus in a mere 0.05 seconds.

Sony's not getting out of the APS-C mirrorless camera game. That was the message at a Sony press conference in New York City this morning where the company unveiled two new APS-C sensor-based mirrorless cameras: the 24.2MP Sony A6600 and the entry-level Sony A6100 models.

This morning Sony announced it has overtaken Nikon in the U.S. market for full-frame interchangeable lens cameras, one spot behind industry leader Canon. Sony leapfrogged Nikon because of the company’s 23% growth in this category with record sales in both interchangeable-lens cameras and lenses in 2017.

Sony just launched the new A7 III mirrorless camera, which features a full frame, 24.2MP back-illuminated Exmor R CMOS image sensor with what Sony is calling “evolved image processing.” Shutterbug is currently in Las Vegas, NV where Sony officially unveiled the camera at a special press event tied to the WPPI (Wedding and Portrait Photographers International) show.
