To some photographers the term “retouching” implies using Photoshop and Lightroom to enhance portrait photos. But as you’ll see in the tutorial below, many of the same editing techniques employed to improve portraits can be used to clean up just about any type of image.

This video comes to us from Phlearn, a YouTube channel devoted to helpful image-editing tips and tricks. This episode demonstrates the use of a number of Photoshop tools to dramatically improve a simple indoor scene.

You’ll see how to use the Spot Healing Brush to remove unsightly electrical cords, door hooks and other distracting elements. The video also demonstrates using the Clone Stamp tool to make all windows in the scene match, employing the Brush Tool to remove an ugly floor heater, and how the Pen Tool can make selections easier.
