Which Lens Is Better for Portrait Photography: 35mm or 50mm? (VIDEO)
Portrait and wedding photographer Julia Trotti is back with another prime lens comparison test. In April, we shared with you her video comparing a 35mm lens with a 50mm lens for travel photography. And now she's comparing those two lenses for portrait photography in the below tutorial.
In the video, Trotti photographs model Shanice using the Canon 35mm f/1.4 lens and the Canon 50mm f/1.2 lens on her Canon 5D Mark III DSLR. She shoots Shanice with both lenses in similar portrait set-ups and then shows you her results, so you can judge whether the 35mm or 50mm lens fared better.
As mentioned, Trotti frequently does "in the field" lens comparison tests and you should also check out this video where she matches an 85mm lens against a 135mm lens for portrait photography.Visit and subscribe to her YouTube channel for more fun and informative photography videos.
