Top Tips for Shooting Stunning Swimsuit Photos on the Beach (VIDEO)
Wouldn't it be great if we could all just go to the beach right now? And it'd be even better if we could bring our cameras, meet up with a gorgeous model, and shoot stunning swimsuit images in sunny locations. Well, professional portrait and swimsuit photographer Anita Sadowska got to do all that and more and in her latest video she shares her top tips on how to get the most out of these shooting situations (if you're ever lucky enough to be in one!)
Shot on location in beautiful Tulum, Mexico, Sadowska teams up with model Diana Ortiz to capture her in a range of locations and swimsuit looks.
"I know this will sound very silly but when I started taking photos at the beach, because I've never really been around the ocean too much I never really knew that tides come and go at different times, that there is different days with different waves and so on," Sadowska admits.
"So, it took me a while to figure it out and for this particular shot I wanted to have a lot of shots in the water, I was hoping the water was going to be super calm but unfortunately that wasn't the case as you can see. So, one thing I would definitely recommend is for you to use surf apps if you are planning on taking photos in the water. You can see the swell, the tide, what kind of waves are there to be expected. And it really helps if you're planning a photo shoot and you want to be in the water because otherwise, you're just hoping for the best and that's not always the best way to go."
Sadowska explains that while swimsuit photos at the beach may look easy, you need to create a way to make them unique and eye-catching since these types of images are so ubiquitous these days.
"Another thing that I find super important especially when I'm shooting in the water is to spice it up somehow because sometimes when you have the water, it's beautiful but it's just blue behind her so it kind of almost looks like a studio setup which I don't necessarily always want," she says. "So I always try and figure ways to try to make it a bit more interesting. I love my models flipping their hair around, standing in wide stances, having their arms flared as well, especially their elbows. It always creates a bit more movement and makes the show scenario a bit more interesting."
