Shutterbug Photo of the Day: "Whitney Portal" by Mark Cranston
Today marks the launch of a brand new feature on Shutterbug.com: Shutterbug Photo of the Day!
Today’s Shutterbug Photo of the Day is this stunning, night sky shot by Mark Cranston. The image was captured at the Whitney Portal Campground in California.
Cranston shot the photo with a Fuji X-T1 mirrorless camera and a Zeiss Touit 12mm f/2.8 lens. The image is a 30-second exposure captured on a Manfrotto tripod at f/2.8.
“I was camping at the Whitney Portal campground with the family and decided to take some night shots after they went to bed,” Cranston writes about the photo.
“I was a little nervous because we saw a bear while hiking earlier that day and it was really dark where I was set up. A car happened by in the middle of the exposure; I thought the shot would be ruined but it turned out better than I thought.”
You can see a larger version of the image in the Shutterbug Photo of the Day Gallery here.
You can see more of Cranston’s photos on his Flickr page.
If you want to enter Shutterbug Photo of the Day, post an image in the gallery and include your real name and some background on the photo (how and where it was shot; the story behind the image; gear and settings used etc.) in the description field to qualify.
We're looking forward to showcasing more great images from readers in Shutterbug Photo of the Day!
