Norwegian Photographer Captures Stunning Shots of Sea Creatures Above and Below the Surface
Norwegian photographer Audun Rikardsen is a professor of Freshwater and Marine Biology at the University of Tromso as well as a sell-taught photographer. He’s used his fascination with the arctic coast to make some extraordinary photographs of sea creatures above and below the surface.
Below are some of his amazing images featured on various Instagram pages.
Rikardsen invites followers to join his journey among the ever-changing sights in the land of the midnight sun, northern lights and interesting sea life. “For me,” he explains, “nature photography is about having fun, telling stories, memorizing my moments, and showing the public my fascination of the coastal nature, wildlife and culture.”
In addition to his full-time position as a professor, Richardson is a Scientific Advisor at the Norwegian Institute for Nature Research. He specializes in the ecology and migration of wild fishes, including whales, sea trout, Arctic char and Atlantic halibut.
Rikardsen grew up in the small Norwegian fishing village of Steigen, and says he’s been enchanted by the region’s rough landscape, wildlife and coastline as long as he can remember.
A nature photographer since 2010, Rikardsen combines his interest in photography with skiing, hiking, boating, hunting and travel.
