Legion Paper Photo Contest
Take over 500 entries exhibiting a broad range of photography and printing
skills; three judges each contributing decades of experience to the arts; and
a conference room in the heart of New York City on one of the coldest days in
history; and you get the ingredients that result in the winning images for the
Legion Paper Photo Contest. The images were judged in three categories: Nature,
Portrait, and Still Life. The judges selected the work that presented outstanding
print quality, composition, concept, design, and the artist's paper choice.
The judges were George Schaub, Editorial Director, Shutterbug; Phil Marco, Photographer
and Cinematographer (www.philmarco.com);
and Len Levine, Co-Founder, Legion Paper (www.legionpaper.com).
Congratulations to the top three winners in each category who will receive the
following prizes based on their placement:
· Gitzo 6x carbon-fiber tripod with head
· Manfrotto MagFibre tripod with head
· Lastolite EzyBalance system
· Autographed edition of Barbara Bordnick's Searchings Volume III
· A selection of Legion Digital Fine Art paper
A special congratulations goes out to the Grand Prize Winner, Bob Schultz, who
will receive a Gitzo 6x carbon-fiber tripod kit plus a four-day seminar package
at ShootSmarter University.

Judges comments: "The first thing we noticed immediately was the topnotch
printing. The quality of light is beautiful, drawing the eye into the print
with vivid shadow detail. Look at the energy within the composition--the
horizon intersecting with the vertical trees and diagonal fence. Again, the
right paper for the right image."

Judges comments: "This image is very direct and we are brought down to
the level of the child. The colors and depth of field present the viewer with
