5 Posing Tips for Fantastic Fitness Portraits (VIDEO)

Brett Seeley is an experienced fitness photographer who has worked with many experienced and some not-so-experienced fitness models. Not surprisingly, he's seen the good and the bad of posing for fitness model portraits.

In this tutorial, Seely teams up with seasoned fitness model pro Taisha Garcia to share what to do and what not to do when it comes to posing. So, without further ado, here are the five quick posing tips with an experienced fitness model.

#1 Show Your Arms

"The first one and, to me, the most important is to make sure to show your arms when you're posing," Garcia explains. "Because sometimes it looks like you don't have an arm."

#2 Point Your Toes

"Make sure you're pointing your toes," she says. "That always looks super professional."

#3 Tighten Your Stomach

"Make sure you suck your stomach in. That always looks good."

#4 Arch Your Back

"Make sure you arch so the curves look better."

#5 No Elbows

"No elbows pointing into the camera. That looks weird."

"One thing I would suggest for photographers out there: a lot of times we are in the position of pointing and telling and taking pictures. We flex [our finger] muscle all day long," Seeley says. "But when you're on this [model's] side of the camera, there's a lot of things going on in your head."

After the five fast tips, Seeley and Garcia demonstrate how this posing advice can be beneficial during a behind-the-scenes photo shoot in the video. "What we're going to do is we told you some of the tips, now we're going to show you the tips," Seeley explains.
