The International Center of Photography (ICP) and the United States Holocaust Memorial Museum have embarked upon a unique project to make photographer Roman Vishniac’s (1897-1990) archive available to the public and the research community. Developing an innovative digital database to help facilitate access to this vast archive that is known to contain 40,000 objects and spans more than 60 years. The ICP and the Museum are pleased to invite scholars, students and families to explore the archive and to contribute their own family stories.

Sony just expanded its lens-style camera line with the new 30x zooming DSC-QX30 and the E-mount interchangeable lens ILCE-QX1 models. The odd-looking devices combine compact lenses and image sensors into one hybrid unit and are designed to be clipped over your smart phone for better image quality when snapping mobile photos.

The Godwin-Ternbach Museum at Queens College has announced its new exhibit titled: Andy Warhol’s Photo-Aesthetic and Beyond—on view from September 11 to November 1, 2014. The museum’s large collection of Warhol art (including the famous Campbell’s Soup and Electric Chair photo-silkscreen prints), recent gifts from the Andy Warhol Foundation and loans from other collections will be at the heart of this event.

We reviewed Perfect Photo Suite 8.5, last month and liked this photo editing and effects app quite a bit. Version 9 of the Suite, which will be available in late October 2014, adds a number of new features and upgrades including faster Raw image previews, re-editable image files, and improved selection tools.

This innovative modular venue is made from re-purposed shipping containers and is host to various photography exhibits, outdoor photo installations, seminars, workshops and night-time multimedia shows.
