Early summer through early Fall this past year brought so many MOOSE adventures. In the past few years, the Moose population has grown immensely. It's amazing how these huge mammals survive sometimes harsh winters and yet come out in Spring with so many new babies! Sadly, the National Park gets very crowded in Summer, and so many folks get too close to the Moose (and Elk). Almost every year, wildlife is destroyed because of humans getting too close or bringing domestic animals, like dogs, into the park. These actions disrupt the behavior of the local wildlife, and often cause them to react when threatened.
This Mama Moose and her calf were very close to the road, causing Moose Jams of cars alongside. Most folks don't realize they sometimes block the animals from crossing! Respect wildlife and keep your distance!
