Every trip to beautiful Maui, I find something new, even in the same ole places. I had never seen these mongoose, which are not native and actually invasive. My husband and I stopped at a park near the end of Hana Highway for a walk. Near the picnic area, near a grouping of lava rocks, out came several mongoose. We stopped and sat on the grass, watching them race along, in and out of the rocks, looking for food. Again, just great timing, not knowing this would happen!! Wildlife adventure surprises!!
