I had been going out to photograph a couple of Snowy Owls who were in our area for the winter months and tended to hang out in the same area. This particular one was hanging out on top of a RV that was parked near a rather large open field. I set up my tripod quite a long distance from her out in the field near a tree in hopes that if she did fly off she would fly out into the field I would be able to capture a good photo of her. To my surprise she flew directly at me and at the last moment veered up into the tree that was almost directly above me. I would guess her to be about 15' from me. I was a bit intimidated by her stare!
Gear used: Nikon D600, Sigma 150-500mm, shot at 500mm, ISO 1000, f/6.3, 1/1250sec. Tripod used.
