"Portal to the Stars:" This old tower, at a height of nearly 130 feet, was built 99 years ago in Mayer, Arizona, but never completely finished and apparently never really used for its originally intended purpose as a mining and smelting smokestack, in part due to the fact that the concrete shell never received a firebrick inlay and also due to the closing up of local mines it was meant to serve shortly after its construction. But this looming concrete relic still stands high and, on this night, appeared to me as a vertical tunnel to the stars! Nikon D810, Nikkor 14-24mm lens.
