I took this photo at the Kenilworth Aquatic Gardens in Washington DC. Although I was busy shooting this year's bountiful lotus blossoms, I saw this dragonfly resting on a lotus seed pod and turned my camera quickly to get the shot. Taken with a Canon 5D Mk III with 180mm macro lens and 1.4X III extender (total focal length of 252mm). Exposure was 1/2000 sec @ f/8.0 and ISO 800. Image cropped and adjusted in Lightroom CC.
