NASA Photo Shows Russian Cosmonaut Floating on the ISS with a Motherload of Nikon Gear

ISS045E075825 (10/06/2015) --- Russian cosmonaut Oleg Kononenko poses with photography equipment aboard the International Space Station. International crew members have taken more than 2.5 million images throughout the over 15 years humans have been living aboard the orbiting laboratory.

NASA posts some pretty cool photos from space on its Flickr feed for the International Space Station but gear junkies should go ga-ga over the above shot.

As the caption indicates, the image shows Russian cosmonaut Oleg Kononenko hanging out (literally) in the ISS with a trio of Nikon DSLRs and telephoto lenses. Meanwhile, other assorted Nikon gear is fixed to the walls, turning the ISS into a veritable Nikon Professional Services (NPS) center in outer space. (We guess having access to all that gear is essential to capturing the more than 2.5 million images over 15 years from the orbiting laboratory.)

Incidentally, the image of Kononenko was shot with a Nikon D800E and Nikkor 24-120mm f/4 lens. If it looks a little noisy to you – and it does to us – it was captured at ISO 14368. See a larger version of the image on NASA’s Flickr feed here.
