This was shot at Steamboat Springs CO during their annual Winter Carnival. Numerous competitions are held over the weekend, some at night like this one. The format was like a dual slalom race except that it was done by riders on modified mountain bikes. Extra large tires with stud were fitted to handle the snow. It had snowed earlier was it was quite soft. This made riding more difficult but if a rider fell, the landing was somewhat softer.
