I visited Victoria Falls in southern Africa during the dry season. The dry weather and an additional drought had greatly reduced the flow over the falls. The low flow left the cliff walls of the gorge into which the remaining falls cascaded more exposed to view. I walked along the cliff edge on the downstream side of gorge late one afternoon, photographing the setting sun backlighting the cascading water and cliff faces. When I reviewed the images that night, I was not satisfied with the compositions or the exposures. So I went back the next afternoon to try again. This image was the best of the photos I shot on the second try.
