Sri Lanka remains my all time favourite destination for solo travel. The people are such great hosts and go out of their way to make you feel comfortable. The guide who drove me around the country, made sure i understood the history of each place we visited. While we sat and admired the beautiful statues and paintings of Lord Buddha at the cave temple in Dambulla, he told me the stories depicted on the murals - Lord Buddha's first sermon, the temptation by the demon mara and so on.
