I’ve seen many pair of nesting snowy egrets but these parents were noteworthy for their unusual level of attentiveness. In the time I spent observing them, they carefully coordinated their activities to ensure the nest was just right, and that the chicks were warm and safe. I thought it fitting that at first glance, the parents looked conjoined since they truly behaved as one. I photographed this image with a Canon EOS 5DS, Canon EF 500mm f4L, Canon 1.4x extender, F/7.1, 1/1250 second, 200 ISO.
