These Bizarre Deep-Sea Creatures Aren’t Your Typical Wildlife Nature Photography Subjects

One of the allures of deep-sea fishing is that sometimes you catch something you don’t expect like these freakish creatures caught and photographed by Russian commercial fisherman Roman Fedortsov.

While many of us might jump ship if we pulled any of these alien-looking things out of the sea, not so Fedortsov who works on a fishing trawler based in the port city of Murmansk in Northwest Russia.

Like many commercial fisherman, Fedortsov is nonplussed when he finds dangerous-looking fish and other creatures like these in the nets, because it actually happens quite often.

According to the Moscow Times who spoke with the intrepid fisherman about his photographs, “Some of Fedortsov’s catches look like the monsters from Ridley Scott’s 'Alien' motion picture.

As you might suspect, Fedortsov finds all the buzz over his images a bit amusing, calmly saying “Aha, caught another one of these guys” when he pulls one from the deep.
