How to Add Precision Autofocus to Vintage Manual Focus Lenses (VIDEO)
Have you ever wished you could get precise autofocus when using vintage, manual-focus lenses on a modern digital camera? Well, now you can thanks to an innovative adapter from Techart that lets you use classic lenses on Sony E-Mount bodies. Our favorite Weird Lens Guru Mathieu Stern was even able to hack this adapter to deliver crisp AF with a 120-year-old camera as you can see in the video below.
The Techart Pro Adapter has a built-in motor and printed circuit board, allowing the camera to measure focus and move the lens closer or further from the camera. Surprisingly, this unique lens adapter supports both AF-S and AF-C modes with your favorite Leica-M, and a number of other manual focus lenses.
Lens mounts that are adaptable for autofocus operation, in addition to Leica-M, include Canon EF/Canon FD, Nikon F, Contax CY, Leica R, Olympus OM, Minolta MD, Pentax PK, and Exacta. After watching the video below you can find complete information and pricing (which varies by lens mount) on the Techart website.
And be sure to visit Stern’s YouTube channel for other interesting videos having to do with vintage and oddball lenses.
