Tamron Intros 28-75mm F/2.8 Lens for Full-Frame Sony Mirrorless Cameras
Sony full-frame mirrorless camera shooters are getting another lens option. Tamron just announced the 28-75mm F/2.8 Di III RXD (Model A036), a high-speed standard zoom lens for Sony E-mount full-frame mirrorless cameras, such as the recently launched Sony A7 III, and last year’s well-reviewed A7R III.
The new Tamron 28-75mm F/2.8 zoom lens is designed to deliver premium optical performance, including both top-notch image quality and beautiful background blur (bokeh), thanks to a new optical system designed by Tamron specifically for mirrorless cameras. The lens will be available at Tamron’s authorized USA retailers on May 24th at $799.
The portability of compact full-frame mirrorless cameras are matched by this new Tamron lens’ compact size and light weight—it measures only 4.6 inches and weighs just 19.4 ounces. The Tamron 28-75mm F/2.8 (Model A036) incorporates a new high-speed and precise AF driving system, according to Tamron. The RXD (Rapid eXtra-silent stepping Drive) is designed to strike a balance between speed and silent operation, making it suited for both video and still image capture.
In addition to shooting portraits with creative, defocused backgrounds, photographers will be able to capture wide-angle expressions thanks to a Minimum Object Distance (MOD) of 7.5 inches at the new Tamron lens’ wide-angle zoom setting. The Tamron 28-75mm F/2.8 (Model A036) also features a moisture-resistant lens build that is suited for outdoor photography, plus hydrophobic Fluorine Coating that is resistant to fingerprints and dirt. In addition, the Tamron 28-75mm F/2.8 (Model A036) will work with various camera-specific features including the in-camera lens correction and Direct Manual Focus (DMF) system features of Sony cameras.
