Tamron Intros “Smallest & Lightest” Ultra-Wide-Angle Zoom Lens: Tamron 17-35mm F/2.8-4 Di OSD

Tamron announced what it is calling "the smallest, lightest ultra-wide-angle zoom lens in its class”: the Tamron 17-35mm F/2.8-4 Di OSD (model A037). The lens will be available for full-frame DSLRs in a Nikon mount in September at $599. The Canon DSLR mount will follow at a date to be announced.

According to Tamron, the vision behind the Tamron 17-35mm F/2.8-4 Di OSD (model A037) is that of an ultra-wide-angle zoom lens that has the same image quality of the SP 15-30mm F/2.8 Di VC USD (Model A012), but with easier portability.

At just 3.5 inches in length and 16.2 ounces in weight, the Tamron 17-35mm F/2.8-4 Di OSD (model A037) is the smallest and lightest lens in its class, Tamron said in a press announcement this morning. The focal length of the new lens ranges from an ultra-wide 17mm that is suitable for professional landscape photography to a standard 35mm designed for portraits and other common photographic uses.

As for F-stops, the wide-angle end is a large aperture F/2.8, and at the telephoto end is a fast F/4. The lens’ moisture-resistant construction and fluorine coating are designed to make it durable and easy to clean.

The new Tamron 17-35mm F/2.8-4 Di lens will be available in Nikon mount on September 4, 2018 at a suggested retail price of $599. The launch of the Canon mount model will be announced at a later date.
