This photo was taken one hazy summer afternoon while hiking in Grand Teton National Park. As sunlight began to cut through the fog and delineate the Tetons in the distance, I noticed and decided to capture the scene of a landscape photographer seizing this remarkable opportunity.
Seventy-four years ago at this location, landscape photographer Ansel Adams stood here at this very location and gazed upon the Snake River, winding its way toward the Tetons. Here he took his famed photograph, “The Tetons and the Snake River”, which set forth the National Park movement in the Jackson Hole area. Today, millions gather from around the world to visit the Tetons' unique, iconic landscape, which embodies the rugged beauty of the American West.
