Glacier National Park has astounding scenery, including steep mountains rising above picturesque lakes. Swiftcurrent Lake near the park's eastern edge is among the most beautiful. On a sub-freezing morning I left the warmth of my sleeping bag and traveled to the lake's edge just as the first, faint light of day began to illuminate this scene. I took a long series of photos until the sun rose and illuminated the mountains across the lake. My favorite image from the series was this photo taken when the mountains and lake were still deep in pre-dawn twilight.
