Before Amtrak existed, and when Washington Union Station had not yet become a shopping mall, individual railroads operated passenger trains in the U.S., in some cases, with style and panache. Here, in April 1967 the Pennsylvania Railroad's crack afternoon express to New York, the "Congressional" is being prepared for departure, as a redcap (station porter) brings a load of baggage train-side. Shot with an Argus C-3 rangefinder camera, Kodak Plus-X film; settings not recorded.
