Glade Creek Grist Mill
Babcock State Park
Winter 2015
I always wanted the iconic postcard image of the Glade Creek Grist Mill in it's winter coat of white in my portfolio. On this particular morning I arrived at Babcock State Park to a fresh coat of about 3 inches of powdery white perfection. To my surprise I was the only person here. Walking down the road to get to this vantage point I made the first set of footprints in the fluffy white snow. The water flow was about the best I had experienced at the Mill.
I shot this image using the Nikon D4S coupled with the Nikkor 70-200 2.8 lens at 82mm using f/18 aperture. I used the Lee Little Stopper ND filter to allow for a longer exposure and used ISO 80 to show motion in the water. My support was the Really Right Stuff TVC-33L tripod coupled with the BH-55 ball head.
