Kaktovik, a native village on Barter Island in Alaska, has an abundance of polar bears prior to the sea ice forming. While the bears are waiting for the ice to form (so they can hunt for food), they exhibit a variety of behaviors. Here a sow was interacting with one of her cubs, which reminded me of how a mother talks to her teenage child when some "life-instruction" is needed. Equipment was a Nikon D4s, Nikon 80-400 G ED; settings were f/8, 1/1250 sec., ISO 1400.
