As an outdoor and nature photographer, I have a strong affinity for boardwalks. They represent an opportunity to venture into areas where it might not be so fun without the benefit of the decidedly unnatural pathway through - areas like forest floors, swamps, wetlands, grasslands, and all sorts of rough or challenging terrain.
The local metro park system in Columbus, Ohio is fabulous and contains a huge variety of settings, from city parks with gazebos and fishing ponds so wild nature areas with miles of barely-improved trails. Inniswood Metro Gardens is a formal garden surrounded by woodlands, and this boardwalk traverses those woodlands comfortably for a kilometer or so.
