To comemorate the start of the Iditarod Sled Dog Race this coming weekend, I have posted a photo from the 2011 start taken at the Campbell Airstrip in Anchorage. Mushers pull two sleds and carry extra riders for the ceremonial start on Saturday. The real race will start on Sunday and will take approximately nine days ending in Nome.
