After I decided that I did not want to capture an image of a flower or an insect, I looked around the house for a suitable subject. I spotted the salt grinder and searched for interesting crystals. After many adjustments to the lighting, to the paper the salt rested on, and of the arrangement of the selected crystals, this is the image I liked. It was an interesting challenge and I think I will be photographing other spices in the near future. I used a Nikon D7100, with a Nikkor 105mm F2.8 Micro lens, and 3 small LED light sources. Using Lightroom, I cropped, increased the contrast, and sharpened the RAW image. With the adjustment brush, I reduced the sharpness of the paper the crystal were resting on, in order to have them stand out a bit more.
