My favorite place to hike and hang out is Yosemite National Park. I was hiking the John Muir Trail above Vernal Falls and saw these yellow wildflowers blooming out of the granite. The dark background with a trace of granite and the form of the wildflowers made them look like a space station orbiting some stony planet.
I was shooting with a Nikon D5100 and using an AF-S nikkor 18-200mm lens. I like the weight of the camera for hikes of several hours and the versatility of the lens.
