I set up my camera on a tripod directed out to sea. I fumbled with composition and exposure, but nothing was right. After several attempts, I glanced behind me. Brilliant alpen glow illuminated the bark of a madrone tree. The outer bark was split and curled to reveal a green inner bark resulting in this abstract shot taken near Burlington, WA. Taken with a Nikon FE2.
