Along the southwest shore of Kitty Hawk Bay, flanking the wetlands, the cottage faced a live oak that took root three hundred years back. This last year the lot was put up for sale, and before the house was razed the portrait was made to honor the family that had created the household there. The oak is scheduled to be felled in the coming year so that the road can be widened.
