This is a Red-shouldered Hawk (Buteo lineatus), an Ambassador of the specie at Flamingo Gardens and a non-releasable bird as he is an injured animal receiving life assistance by Animal Care. These are medium-sized hawks and the breeding range is from eastern North America and the coast of California. It is a permanent resident throughout most of its range, though they do migrate mostly to central Mexico.
