Apple has unveiled the new Mac Pro, a quad Xeon, 64-bit desktop workstation
featuring two new Dual-Core Intel Xeon processors running up to 3.0 GHz and
a new system architecture that delivers up to twice the performance of the Power
Mac G5 Quad. With advanced performance, greater expansion, higher performance
graphics options and unprecedented customization, the newly designed Mac Pro
is the ideal system for the most demanding user. The introduction of the Mac
Pro marks the completion of a rapid and seamless transition for Apple, with
the entire Mac family now using Intel's latest processors.

MediaStreet Inc.is expanding its line of digital photo frames with the introduction
of its "Pure eMotion 128" digital picture frame. The highly versatile
digital frame offers an aesthetically appealing alternative to traditional slide
shows by allowing users to present their musical slideshows without the aid
of a computer or other playback devices.

Fujifilm has responded to this influx of high-resolution pictures by providing
a media card that doubles the memory capacity of the current 1GB product. Like
the 1GB xD-Picture Card, the 2GB version is lightweight and compact--one
of the smallest media cards available. In addition to the added memory, it has
quick reading and writing speeds for a smoother digital photography experience.
The 2GB xD card will be available in September.

The new Nikon D80 replaces the D70 and D70s, and becomes Nikon's mid-level
DSLR aimed squarely at photo enthusiasts and advanced amateurs. Having had a
brief time with the camera at a one-on-one session with Nikon, there are many
aspects that are marked improvement on the successful D70s, and some that come
as bonus features for a camera at this price range. We'll have a full
test as soon as we get our hands on a production sample (as we don't test
prototypes) but in the meantime here's the skinny on some of the camera's
features.

Kingston Technology Company, Inc.will feature renowned Brazilian photographer
Claudio Edinger on its Icons of Photography Web site. Frequently referred to
as the "Master of the Essays" for his natural ability to tell a
complete and detailed story through photographs, Edinger will share some of
the techniques he feels have made him successful and believes can be applied
to anyone. Edinger will also share his thoughts on digital imaging and how it
has changed his professional career--becoming an essential and exclusive part
of his equipment lineup.



This month, Edinger shares some of his thoughts, philosophies and shooting styles
which allow him to separate his commercial photography from the journalism he
finds himself doing for TIME Magazine and other news publications.



"For my personal work," said Edinger, "I like to photograph
small universes, where the human element is special, even exceptional and I
can stop and talk to the people. With my work, I try to understand what the
human being is, why we are here, and mainly, who I am. The journalistic pictures,
on the other hand, require agility and quickness, especially with specific assignments."



"Digital imaging has changed the way I shoot and the way I see,"
Edinger continued. "I rely on different things today, including my Kingston
media cards. When I was shooting film, I had a favorite type like many photographers.
Media cards today are no different. It really comes down to who you trust so
you can concentrate on the art."

he was 24 years old. After 30 years of admiring Rio, Edinger released the book
"Rio," nominated as one of the best of the year by Photo District
News in 2001 and American Photo magazine in 2003. At that time, Edinger defined
the photo essay as, "An attempt of picking up the dream, the utopia, that
place where, as the chamber of secret of each one of us, where we go to reload
ourselves to continue. The place where we get undressed and find ideally the
fraternity and the sameness: the beach."
