What's the latest buzz in photo printing? Meet the Ripple Maker, an innovative new device that  customizes a cup of coffee by "printing" photos on top of the coffee foam. This isn’t a coffee maker; it doesn’t brew the coffee, it simply uses tiny coffee bean drops to color the white cream foam on the surface of the coffee to create the images in just a few seconds—and without affecting the taste of the drink.

The big CES show in Las Vegas wrapped up over the weekend but there are still a few tidbits of photo gear news trickling out of the event. This amazing image might look like it was shot on a different planet but it was actually captured in commercial photographer Michelle Monique’s living room for her first paid gig back in 2009.

Since this is my first foray into camera reviews, I’ll start with a little background info. I am an automotive photographer on staff at two of Shutterbug’s sister publications, Motor Trend and Automobile. Prior to Motor Trend I managed Silvio’s Photoworks in SoCal, and before that I was a manager at the equipment and studio checkout at Brooks Institute of Photography, where I got my BFA. I have used everything from 4x5s to my iPhone, old or new, film or digital. And ever since my dad first handed me his Pentax K1000 in fifth grade, my lens has been aimed at cars.

Indeed, there’s a lot that’s appealling about this flagship, full frame DSLR from Nikon, including its ability to shoot at up to ISO 3,280,000 to capture images in extreme low light conditions.

What’s in a name? Would a luxury leather camera bag by any other name not feel as lavish? If it’s beautifully styled and meticulously manufactured, does anyone really care what it’s called?

Call them what you will – ultra-wides or super-wides – I love ‘em. By covering a breathtaking expanse, these types of extreme wide-angle lenses are not only capable of capturing most landscapes, they also help sweep you into that landscape, making you feel a part of the scene in the process.

Shutterbug reader Yvonne Baur captured this colorful image near “The Subway,” a uniquely shaped slot canyon in Zion National Park in Utah. “This spot is right before you enter the actual Subway section of the hike and the only water you see is through this tiny crack in the sandstone,” Baur says.

Capturing good street photography images can be a lot tougher than it seems. First, you have to be bold enough to shoot candid images of people on the street, most times without their permission. Secondly, in this assignment we were looking for powerful street photography images that captured an emotion or told a story; not just random shots of people walking down the street. Or, to paraphrase the great Henri Cartier-Bresson, we were seeking images that captured “the decisive moment.” With these 10 favorites by Shutterbug readers from the Street Photography assignment, we found them.
