Sometimes it’s great to get outdoors and shoot environmental portraits with a real backdrop like Colorado’s Flatiron Mountains outside of Boulder. The problem is that unless you have some sweet golden-hour light, the harsh midday sun can make such a task very difficult.

Nikon has been relatively quiet in introducing DSLRs aimed at enthusiast photographers in the past year but that all changed this morning with the announcement of the new D7500, the company’s latest camera in the D7000 line. The Nikon D7500, which replaces the D7200 from 2015, uses the same 20.9MP, DX-format (APS-C) CMOS sensor with no low pass filter as the flagship DX-format Nikon D500.

The Fujifilm X-T2 is a compact but serious mirrorless camera you can bring anywhere. It hovers between the enthusiast and pro product categories with a feature set and performance levels previously only available in DSLRs. Or in other words, the photographic power that 12 pounds of gear used to deliver is now offered in a camera less than half the weight with all the image quality. Highlights of the Fujifilm X-T2 include an APS-C-sized 24.3-megapixel X-Trans CMOS III sensor with no low-pass filter, and the ability to shoot 4K video.
