With the exception of a birthday cake or sand castle, few Americans have the opportunity to own something that is handmade. The new Bannoch photo messenger bag from Glasgow-based Trakke Ltd combines style, functionality and handcraftsmanship to create a true luxury experience. Keep this on your radar for Mother’s Day (13-May this year), Father’s Day and June Grads. If you want to present a gift that will last a lifetime, think stinging nettles.

In 1932, the trademark NIKKOR was registered by Nippon Kogaku K.K., the legendary Japanese camera manufacturer now known as Nikon.

To commemorate the rich 90-year history of NIKKOR optics, Shutterbug offers you a peek behind the curtain via this interview with three Nikon engineers.

Nikon recently announced the Coolpix B600, a superzoom with a 24-1440mm equivalent range, highly effective image stabilization, 16-megapixel CMOS sensor and a lens that’s sharper than kittens’ teeth. This isn't an ad. It's a how-to that gives you the ins and outs of using lens mount adapters to inexpensively engage some of the best glass ever made—easily and cheaply.

We're amazed that not everyone knows this. Nikon Z owners can adapt legacy Nikon F-mount optics—made by Nikon, and state-of-the-art when they were originally introduced—that work in Manual Focus Mode and Aperture Priority or Manual Exposure Mode—and they're a genuine steal compared to the price of modern optics. It's very easy and very affordable. A huge plus: while many don't realize it, the image quality is exceptional, even when compared to current lenses. Wait—there's more…

In school we learned it’s polite to share. Loaning a digital camera to a comrade is commendable, but never, ever loan anyone a memory card unless you’re aware there’s a risk that the borrower can view the images that you think you’ve deleted—even if you formatted the card.

Olympus was kind enough to lend me a 150mm f2.0 Zuiko lens for some personal shooting. I recently bought a new E-520 at an incredible price because it’s a discontinued model. Even so, it has a rich feature set, Image Stabilization and weighs slightly more than a well-dressed chicken taco. It also offers Live View, Dust Reduction and Wireless Flash. On close-out, this DSLR body cost me about the same as a high-end point-and-shoot.

It’s Macro SmackDown! If the cost were the same, which Olympus macro lens would you buy for your Micro Four Thirds mirrorless camera, the 60mm f/2.8 or the 30mm f/3.5? We shot with both and came to a conclusion that might surprise you.

Here’s a new accessory that definitely falls into that “Why didn’t I think of that?” category. Olympus’s MAL-1 Macro Arm Light is a pair of bright LEDs attached to the end of flexible, gooseneck arms. They connect via the camera’s accessory port/hot shoe, and are powered by the camera (no extra battery needed).
