announce that it is now accepting applications for the company’s first-ever
scholarship contest. The Sigma Corporation of America Scholarship will award a
cash gift of $5,000 and $1,000 in Sigma products to one talented high school
senior to advance his or her education and goals toward obtaining a career in a
photo-related field. Students pursuing higher education in industries such as
photography, photojournalism, graphic arts and design, visual arts and art

Sigma's new 120--300mm f/2.8 APO EX DG HSM is a digitally optimized
telephoto zoom lens featuring a fast f/2.8 maximum aperture throughout it zoom

Third-party lens manufacturer Sigma unveiled the new 14-24mm F2.8 DG HSM Art wide aperture zoom lens today. 

Kaitlyn Betz of Owego, NY, was the first photographer to win a personal portfolio critique session with one of Sigma Corporation of America’s four US-based Sigma Pros. The camera and lens manufacturer kicked off its “Our Pros, Your Photos” program as part of its 50th anniversary celebration, which also features monthly product giveaways, videos about the company and its products, advice from Sigma Pros, links to social media channels, and photo-sharing and tagging via Flickr.

John Conn has photographed landscapes, landmarks, and the underwater world, but his passion for documentary storytelling has resulted in his most compelling images: apartheid-era South Africa, residents of a Bowery flophouse, patients in a cancer hospice, the subways of 1970s New York City, and, starting three years ago, the homeless of Manhattan.<

Following the success of its inaugural event in 2006, SILVER, the high-profile
conference and photographic competition sponsored by Ilford Photo and Calumet,
moves forward with plans for SILVER 2007.



Taking place March 30 - April 1 at the Art Center College of Design in Pasadena,
CA, SILVER will bring together a wealth of talent, experience and knowledge via
an impressive line-up of speakers and forum panelists. Photographers of all levels
will benefit from lectures, workshops, one-on-one discussions, forums and opportunities
for networking with fellow enthusiasts.



There will also be informal print reviews, open portfolio critiques and a print
competition for cash prizes with the winners announced at the conclusion of the
conference.



The major featured speakers sharing their particular viewpoints on different aspects
of black-and-white photography will be John Sexton, Keith Carter, Ken Rosenthal,
Mary Virginia Swanson and Sally Gall, while British photographer and darkroom
expert Tim Rudman will be running a darkroom workshop on lith printing, toning,
etc.



Panelists answering participants' questions and concerns in forum sessions will
represent a wide panorama of black-and-white photography, from photographers,
writers, gallery owners and managers to representatives of the event's sponsors.
These include Frish Brandt of the Fraenkel Gallery, Michelle Dunn Marsh of Aperture
Magazine, Craig Krull of the Craig Krull Gallery, David Fahey of the Fahey/Klein
