In Frederick Sound, Alaska, approximately 500 Humpback whales come to feed in the summer. The weather was terrible, very dark and rainy, but this whale seemed to enjoy it. He (she?) breached several times before moving on. Equipment was Nikon D4s, Nikon 600mm f/4, Gitzo tripod with Wimberely head; settings were f/4, 1/2500 sec., ISO 10000.
