Crows and hawks are notoriously camera shy and wary of human presence. The large dogwood outside the our kitchen window has presented many photo ops over the years for a wide variety of critters. Crows are a challenge when a camera is pointed in their direction. After many failed attempts to capture his image with handheld equipment, I resorted to a sneak attack with the camera on a tripod and "pre-focused" to his favorite limb. Hiding in another room I could see when he returned to the tree and used a remote wireless shutter release to get my shot. Birds have been documented expressing themselves vocally and with wing or feather displays. This crow is doing it with his eyes! That is a contemptuous if not angry expression staring at the camera lens. There was also a moderate snow storm at the time.
