An abandoned tobacco barn represents an eastern North Carolina way of life from yesteryear. Tobacco leaves were hung in these barns and cured under heat prior to delivery to huge warehouses to be auctioned. Every family member played a vital role in the process and each certainly enjoyed the forgiving shade from this oak tree.
