Shot in 2012, this is what is commonly called a "grab shot". My wife and I were hiking in Great Basin National Park. After a brief break at the trail's end we started to head back when I saw this tree. I fired off a single, hand held shot on my Canon 5DMKII with a 24-105 Canon lens. I positioned myself so the Bristlecone was a perfect foreground figure in front of the coming storm.
