Photo is from my work as an Artist in Residence at The Mojave National Preserve in California. This was my first trip to the Preserve to start scouting what I might want to photograph. It was late winter/early spring. I had seen an old building and initially wanted to photograph it against the background of the storm and valley below. But I just couldn't find the right composition. I decided to explore the building. This is very difficult for me as I have Multiple Sclerosis and need walking aides or a wheel chair to get around. With the help of my wife and walking aides I climbed into the building. The building was full of rubble from the deteriorating building which made moving around very difficult. But I had to get to the far side to get the windows in the correct position. While the lighting wasn't constant, it was often enough to finally capture it. The view out the windows is toward Interstate 15 as it approaches Nevada from California.
Desert thunderstorms can lead to interesting photos.
