At the base of the pylon in Kill Devil Hills, commemorating the first powered flights made by the Wright Brothers on December 17, 1903, a series of plaques remember earlier attempts to fly; these images, inset on the door to the memorial, serve as a sober backdrop to the achievement of the Wright Brothers in what was then Kitty Hawk. Nikon D7100, 2.8/24mm Nikkor wide angle lens at f5.6, Nikon polarizer, mirror up, Manfrotto tripod with electronic cable release. Raw save opened in Nikon Capture software, processed with minimal cropping and adjustments in CS3.
