Untold thousands thronged to Magic Island to welcome home the Hōkūle'a, after its 3-years journey around the world. Elbow-to-elbow, many of them were able to take photos with Diamond Head National Monument in the background, but I opted for this shot with the sun at my back and the freedom to move around.
