To be able to take such a journey is a gift. Hiking from Springer Mountain in Georgia to Katahdin in Maine is to say the least a daunting task. Their are many milestones along the way that thru hikers look for. One of these lies roughly a little over 200 miles from Springer Mountain, Georgia. It is one of the best views in the Smokies (next to Clingmans Dome). Hikers count this as milestone along their journey and almost always opt to have their picture taken.
