It is not always necessary to travel to exotic foreign locations to get interesting wildlife photos. The nearest zoo provides many great photographic opportunities. Three lion cubs were born at the Indianapolis zoo in late 2015 and I have photographed them growing up.

This is one of the many photos I took through the protective plexiglass shield. Unfortunately, the options for photography of the Indianapolis lion exhibit are either through a plexiglass shield or a double chain link fence.

This particular photo was taken with a Canon 5D Mark III with a 100-400mm telephoto lens @200mm, f8, 1/250 second and ISO 400. I made minimal corrections in Lightroom 6 to eliminate the reflections in the plexiglass.

The lion cub expression is "guaranteed to make you smile." He has an almost Mona Lisa like playful yet serious expression.
